Tesla is adding more car rental options to its New York-area stores, including a $10 million vehicle rental program.
The Tesla Motors division, which is based in Palo Alto, California, is expanding its car rental program by providing vehicle rentals for $10 a day, a spokesman said in a statement Tuesday.
The company said it plans to hire as many as 1,000 people to operate the car rental network in Manhattan’s Times Square and other locations.
Tesla will rent up to three vehicles a week from its Tesla Motors Center in downtown Los Angeles, the company said.
The automaker also announced plans to launch an electric vehicle leasing program in select locations across the U.S. in the coming months.
The program will be operated by leasing companies such as Tesla and its own Tesla Motors and Gigafactory affiliate, according to the company.
